We are still researching this soldier but have been unable to find relevant or likely records so far.

Two casualties: Charles John Watson from Martham and Leonard Arthur Watson from Thrigby, have been identified but do not appear to relate to this entry on the memorial.

We would really appreciate any help that could be given to tell the story of George E Watson. Please email or telephone if you can help.

Please be aware a lot of development remains to be done and our researches are far from complete.

The information provided here is gathered from a number of sources and is, to the best of our knowledge, accurate. We cannot, of course, vouch for the accuracy of all those source and we are aware that names by which individuals were known and those recorded in official records often varied. There are also gaps in the official record as some records were lost to enemy action during the Second World War and through the passage of time.

If you have any further information regarding these men or photographs or, despite our best efforts, there is an error for an individual entry please contact Lesley via webmaster@filbyvillage.org.uk

Filby Calendar 2009

Our 2009 calendar, "Filby Then & Now", was launched at the Filby Playing Field, Bank Holiday Fun Weekend at the 'Local Roots' Exhibition in the Clubroom with profits going to the new village hall fund.

There are still some on sale at the Post Office at only £7.00 ea. or via this website but time is running out and we are already planning the 2010 calendar.

You get the idea.

However the future of this building is uncertain and fund raising for a new village hall, to be sited on the Playing Field, is progressing despite our application for Lottery funding being rejected.
